Our brokers and analysts regularly provide the business and agricultural news media with timely insight to current economic and commodity market activity. While all on our team are trained and comfortable with media interviews, some key topic experts are highlighted here.  

Joe Barker is Director of Brokerage Services and has spent 16 years providing commodity price risk management services for agricultural clients of CHS Hedging.  He began in the Indianapolis branch office as a commodity broker in 2000.  From 2007 to 2014, he was the branch manager of the Kansas City office and spent the last years in the Indianapolis office.  Joe served on the Kansas City Board of Trade and was on the KCBT Clearing Corporation Board of Directors while in Kansas City.  He has recently been appointed to an ad hoc committee for the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives and recently appointed to the Ag Advisory Committee for the CFTC, Joe provides industry perspective and policy feedback to the CFTC during its rule-making process related to implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act.    
Joe Lardy Joe Lardy leads

our research department, where his team aggregates and analyzes the broad range of data surrounding today’s commodity markets. Most recently with Cargill, Joe brings more than 16 years in trading industry doing commodity analysis and strategy.  His commodity experience covers grain, livestock, energy, freight, lumber and metals.  He holds a Series 3 license and earned a bachelor's in finance and economics from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.


Keith Swanson leads the fertilizer risk management program for commercial agribusinesses, a program with special emphasis on inventory and risk transfer strategies. Keith has more than 30 years of commodity and derivative markets trading experience, along with a background in fundamental and technical market analysis. His career has included positions with the crop nutrients division of CHS Inc., General Mills, Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Merrill Lynch Futures and Swanson Futures Inc. He is Series 3 and Series 30 registered with the National Futures Association. A native of Minnesota, Keith earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
